RB Leipzig have announced the appointment of Solt Loew, Thomas Tuchel’s former assistant, as short-term head coach until the end of the season.

Leipzig lost 1-0 at Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, and on Sunday the board of directors sacked Marco Rose from his position with the team in sixth place, four points off the top four.
The Red Bull team has now officially confirmed Loew as their replacement. The 45-year-old Hungarian coach, a
former national team left-back, was a member of Tuchel’s team since he played for Mainz in 2009 until he retired in 2011.
During his career as a head coach, Loew worked as Tuchel’s assistant at Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
The 45-year-old was previously ‘Global Head of Soccer Development’ at Red Bull.
The Hungarian returns to Leipzig having been assistant manager to Ralph Hasenhüttl and Ralf Rangnick from 2015-18. Löw also held a similar role with Red Bull Salzburg and Liefering. Löw’s last experience of German football was as assistant coach to Thomas Tuchel, where he won the Bundesliga in 2023.
Low will take charge of his first training session on Monday ahead of Leipzig’s DFB-Pokal tie against VfB Stuttgart later in the week.
